Weston Graduates!

Honestly, we were not sure this day would even come.  He's struggled with school, or even wanting to go to school since preCOVID, but he did it-he pulled it off and graduated!  WooooHooo.  Congratulations to our little (BIG) Weston.  Off into the world as an adult now!

Weston's German Pancakes

So, I woke up this morning to a partially cleaned kitchen.  I went to bed a little early last night, so I left Weston cleaning the kitchen.  I went to sleep, knowing that when I woke up in the morning I would be upset that the kitchen wasn't cleaned to my standards.

This morning, just as I suspected-I got up to a 1/2 ass job kitchen cleaning.  My mom was lucky enough to text me good morning as I was snapping photos of noodles in the sink left from the night before.  She gave me some great advice, she said: "go wake him up and make him clean it properly, he shouldn't be in there sleeping in....don't go in yelling or angry-just tell him to get up and fix the problems!"  I waited until I was cooled down - and did just that.  He got up and he re-did the kitchen.

Then he made me German Pancakes.

Mom Score!

What he used:

6 Eggs
1 Cup AP Flour
1 Cup Milk
4 Tbs of Butter
1 Tsp Vanilla
Sprinkle of Cinnamon
Pinch of Salt
Powdered Sugar for sprinkling on top
Syrup for pouring on top if desired

What he did:
Preheated the oven to 425, and as the oven heated he had the butter in a 9x12 pan melting.  While that was heating and melting, he mixed all the other stuff together in the stand mixer.  Once it was melted, he took the pan out and poured in the mixture-baked it for about 10 mins.  Once it was done he sprinkled lots of powdered sugar & then.....we ate it, and it was good-tasted like French toast & quiche had a cool sweet baby!

Oh and bonus, he gets culinary points for making food at home during the distance learning time.

Happy "Almost" Holidays!

So, the unthinkable happened.  My camera stopped functioning during a little mini session with my kiddos.  This caused me to have to turn down a few photo sessions this fall-which sucks because everyone loves a little extra cash around the holidays.

But the good news is, I did manage to get a few cute pics of the kids & the camera is fixable (away being fixed now) so in the meantime, please take a look at the photos I got of my sweet babes..(the ones left in the nest anyway).  As you can see from the photos-only one was willing to "model" for me lol

Happy 17th Kid

Well today is the 17th birthday of my baby, my youngest natural born child-my darling and sweet Weston.  He is such a good kid, funny-smart, kind-thoughtful, generous, loving.....I could go on and on.

He is with is dad this week, so we don't get to celebrate his actual birthday together-and I hope his dad gets him a cake-because 9 years ago to the day Weston asked me "Momma, are you going to get me a cake for my birthday this year, because without a cake it's just any other day!".  And I certainly do not want him to have a "just another day" kind of day on his birthday!

And some random photos of him growing up.....<3 but not baby photos......

These Three

It is so hard to get good pictures of the kids lately.  One doesn't want to smile, one doesn't want to find clothes that are not stretched out and one is mostly cooperative.  My time with this is short, they are growing up so fast-the days go by and before I know it, it's been a year and I have not photographed the boys together with their sister, or the boys at all (they simply hardly allow it).  I am enjoying every second I can with them, but I want to photograph them too!  Soooo on our way to swim at Maw's house one day-we drove by the river and snapped a few of them!  Gosh they are a cute mess.

Picture Day

I am not one for paying for someone else to take pictures of my children, I personally feel like I do a better job at capturing their personalities.  This has been an ongoing "thing" for me as well since all the kids were small.

Last month, I did extensive cleaning of our personal papers and organizing the filing cabinet in my office.  I came across proofs of photos taken of Weston when he was in grade school, maybe first grade.  I never bought those pictures-as stated and explained above.  And for the first time, I felt some regret for not doing that.  Sure I have great, fantastic even, pictures of Weston's toothless grin - but these are different.  Maybe I am just feeling sentimental because he just turned 16.

But anyway, I did decide to buy some prints of Miss O this year, for her kindergarten year.  I cannot wait to see them!

Daddy got her dressed today (did her hair as you can probably tell), but Olivia picked out her outfit and bow.  I cannot wait to see these when they come home!

xoxo, Lela

p.s.  here are a few I took for my own personal kindergarten collection while at a photoshoot of my friend Brittney & her family
